If you read my post regarding New Year’s resolutions and why I don’t make them, this is my alternative. I’ve heard from many people that they have done an 18 for 18 or a 19 for 19 list. This is a list of activities or improvements to focus on throughout a year. Ideally, when the year is completed, you have checked off all your items. If you haven’t, you can remove them or move them forward to the next year.
20 for 2020!
This is the first year I am doing a 20 for 20. I have been hesitant for the reasons I don’t make resolutions: the terrible fear of failure. What would happen if I don’t complete my list? Well, I am throwing the fear to the wind this year and making my list. I am at peace that if I don’t complete all the items, the world will not fall apart and I will NOT be a failure. All will be ok.
So here is my 20 for 20:
1- Clean out under my stairs. This is a black hole in my house that is full of …. really I don’t know what is in there anymore. This is one reason I need to clean it out. I think there is a bunch of stuff from when my daughters were little, but your guess is as good as mine.
2- Get my photo albums up to date. I am fairly current on this, having completed through about 2016/2017, but I have done nothing since and would like to get my photos up to date. I use Shutterfly and do everything digitally do it’s pretty easy. I just have to do it!
3- Finish my daughter’s photo album. I have her high school years to complete – she is now almost to her 10 year reunion. I definitely want to get this done.
4- Complete vacation albums for myself and my father and sister. We took a fabulous trip to Germany for the Christmas markets in December 2019 and I have been tasked to do the albums.
5- Paint my daughter’s room. It is desperately needed!
6- Read the first four Harry Potter illustrated versions.
7- Re-organize all my dishes. I have too many and need to streamline and re-organize.
8- Decide what to do with some of my mother’s china. I use and will keep much of it, but there is just too much. I know there are some interesting crafts that can be done with old china – need to figure this one out.
9- Bake a perfect chocolate cake from scratch with buttercream icing from scratch also.
10- Have friends over for dinner party/game night at least twice.
11- Start a draft for my book, even if it is just getting ideas on paper. I have a few ideas, I just need to get writing.
12- Watch “Casablanca” – yes, I’ve NEVER seen it!
13- Read 12 books- the Harry Potter books can count if I want them to!
14- Figure out what to do with old film and negatives I have. They need to be transferred to a digital format. I don’t have many but this needs to be done!
15- Stop being afraid of my Instapot and start using it!
16- Take my nutrition supplements regularly. I am very irregular now in remembering to take these each day. I know they do great things for my health (fish oil, garlic, biotin, turmeric), I just need to remember to take them!
17- Use my free weekend night at a Hilton hotel and go someplace I love!
18- Work to reduce waste and recycle more. I have reusable bags in my car and always forget to bring them in the store.
19- Bake a really good loaf of sourdough bread. From scratch. With a sourdough starter. I have no idea how to do this…..
20- Blog two times a week and build my audience and email list.
So that’s it. Will I complete them all? Maybe. Maybe not. And that is ok. I find putting these things down will at least provide me a guideline. When I reach December 31st, 2020, we will see how I did and I will report back to you!

Take Z Challenge:
Make your own 20 fo 20 and share! With me, with anyone! You can do it!
I can help with 19. I have sourdough starter that has been passed down from my grandmother through my mom to me. I will bring you a start and my favorite sourdough recipe in February:)
Great list and great focus on positives for a new year!!
Now THAT would be awesome!
